I would not put Hamilton or Schumacher in contention for the GOAT. Their talents are obvious, but the accomplishments are heavily biased by their equipment advantages. In my opinion, the choice for F1 GOAT comes down to three, Senna, Juan Manuel Fangio, and my choice, Jim Clark.

Sure he “only” won 3 titles. But look at the cars he had to drive. For the first 4 years he couldn’t win with those cars. As soon as he had a good car 1988 he won. Look at Schumacher, Hamilton and others. Compare cars.

Respectfully, there is NO WAY that Claire Williams was going to be able to run a sustained successful Formula 1 racing team. The real mistake, if any, was that the Frank Williams did not put a hierarchical succession plan in well before his health began to decline.

Claire thought that Williams could survive within their existing model despite seeing all the other teams around them changing. That was swimming against the current and in F1 only has two end results. Going under or being bought out.

It's really sad that the Williams family had to sell off their shares in the team but the facilties at Williams just haven't been up to scratch for going on 2 decades so they desperately needed the funding or else they could've disappeared.
